| WE SURVIVED! 10th Anniversary Tour Now History The most successful tour in independent wrestling is now in the history books. Large, deafening crowds, uncompromising wheather and road conditions, and awe-inspiring matches embodied MainStream Wrestling Entertainment's latest eyebrow-raising journey of 26 events in seven weeks throughout all 4 Atlantic Provinces. On the final stretch, 19 of these shows were held in just 22 days, a calendar not even world-reknowned outfits put together today. ROUGH GOING However, success was not easily attained this year. According to promoter Devin Chittick, the road along the way was far from paved with gold. "At one point we needed to travel from Cartwright, a small Reservation in Labrador's Western region, to Happy Valley-Goose Bay," he said, recalling a tumultous 8-hour trek, "so we had to drive about 25-30 kilometres an hour over a road that is still being constructed and shouldn't really be open to the public at all." Barely fifteen minutes outside of Cartwright, one crew vehicle experienced a flat tire before ever reaching the impossible highway that would take them to the next town. When finally introduced to the harsh road, they were welcomed by a group of 5 black bears, in the middle of nowhere with no resources and no cell towers in existance. The next 6 hours were treacherous, slow and unsteady driving across a terrain heavily garnished with large, sharp rocks, and quicksand-like mud that tested all who crossed it. Devin says, "On that day, about halfway through this new road they're building, we had to stop in the middle of one of the construction zones because an oncoming vehicle was stuck - jacked up on a huge rock. They couldn't go forward or backward so we had to get out and, after some struggle, managed to loosen the rock enough so that the lady could pass by. "The construction worker told her there wasn't anything that could be done if she broke down, that we're all travelling through at our own risk," he said. The wrestlers warned her that the going would only get rougher for her if she decided to continue on, but she took her chances, just like MainStream. MORE |
